Nutrition and Food Service Program Management

The American food scene has transformed how and what we eat. More than ever, food and nutrition professionals are needed to plan, educate, motivate, and guide people of all ages and backgrounds to achieve and maintain health and wellness.

This concentration can also help prepare you for lucrative career as a foodservice or program manager. Upon graduation, you can enter a manager position and be responsible for planning, staffing, directing, and controlling any number of food and beverage operations such as restaurants, school nutrition programs, college dining services, onsite employee dining, and more. The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects the growth in employment of foodservice managers will grow 9% over the period of 2016-2026*.

Coursework includes: nutrition science, 食物与社会, 餐饮服务系统, management, 社区营养, 还有市场营销, 金融账户, organizational behavior and more.  The recipe for success in the Nutrition and Food Service Program Management concentration includes a supervised internship in your senior year. Together with a faculty member, you will identify a placement that appeals directly to your interests and aspirations. 

While a minor is not required, most of our students select a minor to enhance their learning and get them ready for a wider variety of careers.  You can easily add coursework in: public and community health, psychology, Spanish, business, marketing, anthropology, computer science, 专业写作, and more.
